Spetskonst (Lace Art)
9 June – 19 August
@ Vadstena Castle, Vadstena
During the jubilee summer, the focus in Vadstena will be on lace. Two magnificent rooms at Vadstena Castle are the venue for the exhibition Spetskonst (Lace Art) on the amazing, enchanting world of lace.
Learn all about Vadstena lace, famous worldwide for its thin white thread and special technique. Discover the technical know-how behind each piece in an exhibition reflecting the past, present and future.
Around a dozen artists are participating with their innovative work. For example, master goldsmith Marita Carlborg Olsson is showing her lace-style jewellery in gold and silver thread. Elin Ivre, who attended Hemslöjden’s Sätergläntan college of handicrafts and is now a student at Beckmans College of Design, displays her textile works. A funeral pall designed by Barbro Grytnäs is under creation and will be on display.
During the exhibition period, activities are being organised such as courses, talks and opportunities for visitors to try out activities and explore the art of lace-making by taking to the threads themselves.
